How can I apply for the test?
What documents do I need to submit?
Where should I send my identification documents?
You have the option to upload a scan of your identity document when you register online, or you can email it to
info@englishtests.ca after you have completed the online registration.
Where can I find the IELTS Application Summary email?
The email will be sent to the address you provided when you registered online. If you registered online, please check your email inbox and junk/spam folders. The email will have “IELTS Application Summary” in the subject line.
Can I pay over the phone?
We do not accept payment or registration over the phone, but you can

with credit card, or in person at our head office with cash, credit, or debit card (all in-person services are temporarily suspended because of COVID-19).
Is it possible to move my test to a later date?
You may change your test date at any time more than 14 days before the test. Please refer to our
Cancellation Policy for more details.
Why was my speaking test location and/or date changed?
Please note that speaking test is subject to change. We reserve the right to make time/place and date modifications should the need arise. You will be contacted by the Coast English Testing team notifying you of any change.
Which module should I register for?
Choose
IELTS Academic if you want to study at university, at an undergraduate or postgraduate level, or join a professional association where English is a prerequisite.
Choose
IELTS General if you want to apply for Express Entry or any other immigration program in order to establish anywhere in Canada. Read more about

Test day
Is it possible to take all of the modules on the same day?
Yes. The listening, reading and writing modules take place in the morning, and the speaking module takes place in the afternoon.
Can I take the test online or on a computer?
You can take IELTS on paper or on computer! Whichever method you choose, your speaking test will be face-to-face with an IELTS Examiner. Please note, you cannot take the test online.
What time should I arrive at the test centre?
You must arrive at the test centre location between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
What time will the test finish?
You will be finished after the speaking module which will take place between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. on test day. If you would like to schedule your speaking test for a different day, at our head office in New Westminster, please contact us by email. Requests must be made at least 2 weeks before the date of the test.
What happens if I am sick on the day of the test?
What should I bring with me?
Can I go to the washroom during the test?
Yes. However, the access to the washroom is denied under the following circumstances:
- The test instructions are being delivered
- The Listening test is underway (including the 10-minute pause at the end)
- The last 10 minutes of each section
- The paper counting of each section
Will I get extra time for a washroom break?
No extra time is allowed for washroom breaks.

Will water bottles be provided at the test venue?
To reduce our carbon footprint and reduce waste generation, we do not provide water bottles at the venue. Therefore, we encourage test takers to get their own water bottles.
Please Note: Drinks, such as water or juice, must be in a clear container and must have no words written on the container.
Results
When will I receive my test results?
IELTS on Paper are available 13 days after the test. You will be able to view your results online as soon as they are ready. Read more about

How long will the online preview be available?
The system will display results for up to 40 days after the test date
Can an official copy of my Test Report Form (TRF) be sent to a university or other institution after I have taken the test?
Yes. We will share your results with up to five organizations, free of charge, that you selected during your test registration. Should you wish to add additional recipients after your registration has been completed, the cost will be $32.50 (plus taxes) each. Read more about

Is it possible to get my score re-checked?
Yes. Within six weeks of the test date, Test takers may apply for an Enquiry on Results (EOR), which is a review of the component scores and final score awarded on the Test Report Form (TRF). Read more about

What is the centre number?
Our centre number is CA090.
My results were supposed to be out, but I still can’t see them. Why is that?
Sometimes, there can be cases of server delays or technical issues that may prevent your results from being displayed. Please email us at
info@englishtests.ca and we will look into it. Please note, we are not responsible for any errors or delays relating to web results release.
Can I pick up TRF from your office?
Unfortunately, at this time we are not able to offer the pickup option because our office is closed due to COVID-19. So, if you wish to receive the IELTS TRF as soon as possible, you will have to pay for a Courier Service (which is trackable and timely delivery), and we will send it to your address as soon as we can. How long does it take to receive my TRF in the mail?
We send out the Test Report Forms (TRFs) as soon as the results are out via Canada Post. If you have not opted for a courier service (which is trackable and timely delivery), we send it by regular mail. Usually regular mail takes about 8 – 10 business days to reach, however given the ongoing pandemic Canada Post is facing massive delays.
My TRF was sent via regular mail. Can I still track it?
Regular Mail does not come with a tracking number. To be able to track your TRF and to ensure a timely delivery we advise all our test takers to opt for a courier service for their TRFs. You may read more about TRF Courier Pricing

Payment
The status of my registration hasn’t changed to ‘paid’ on the British Council account. Should I be worried?
Due to the higher demand, we currently expect it will take 3 business days for the payment to be processed and the status to be changed to 'paid'. Your test will not be cancelled if you have made payment.
I received an email from British Council IELTS saying my test registration will be cancelled if I do not pay within 3 days. I have already paid so this is causing confusion. Can you help?
These automated emails were stopped as of Monday 19th April 2021. Please ignore these emails. If you have a registration with reference number beginning A3-CA090, and you have paid, your registration will not be cancelled. Please allow 5 - 7 business day for processing.
